An evening buffet was held courtesy of Bank Hapoalim. MDA UK were honoured to welcome Guri Palter, a very special guest who spoke very interestingly about Israel’s Defence Forces. Guri Palter, was one of the most senior pilots (1958- 1980) and subsequently a Captain with El Al. He was shot down in his Phantom in the Yom Kippur War by a SAM missile and imprisoned in Egypt.
In a much publicised handover, he was exchanged for hundreds of Egyptian prisoners of war. In the early 1980s he flew the lead Boeing 747 in Operation Solomon which rescued 14,325 people, the total sum of Ethiopian Jewry.
Stephen Twigg MP was the speaker at a lunch meeting in June kindly sponsored by Stoy Hayward and held at their offices in Baker Street. Mr Twigg who is the Minister for Schools gave an interesting and informative speech about The Dunce’s Hat: Britain’s Education system in the next decade. He took questions from the floor after his talk. Daniel Dover, Senior Partner of Stoy Hayward, welcomed everyone, Robin Ellison introduced Stephen Twigg MP, Alan Nedas introduced the video and Jonathon Cohen gave the vote of thanks.
